Philip G. Smucker
Philip Smucker is an independent journalist and documentary film maker. He has spent the last twenty years as an overseas reporter, covering conflicts in Burma, Cambodia, Haiti, Bosnia, Serbia, Afghanistan and Iraq. He has written for numerous publications, including US News and World Report, Time Magazine, Christian Science Monitor, International Herald Tribune, and the Daily Telegraph.
Smucker broke the story of Osama bin Laden's escape from Afghanistan in the Christian Science Monitor in December 2001. In connection with his reporting in Afghanistan, he appeared on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Chris Mathews's Hardball, ABC's Nightline, CNN's Wolf Blitzer Reports, and other television programs. He has also participated in and helped promote war on terror documentaries by The National Geographic, The History Channel and PBS.
